Guangdong Tsinghua Smart Biotech Co., Ltd (Hereinafter referred to as "Tsinghua Smart”), established in January 2017 with RMB 185 million of registered capital, is a technology company dedicating to the R&D, production, sales and technical services of 1,3-Propanediol(PDO) and 2,3-Butanediol(BDO).

Relying on excellent R&D and industrialization platforms such as Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Dongguan Innovation Center and China-Latin Lab, Tsinghua Smart has strong R&D strength and industrialization foundation: the technical team is composed of top scientists from Tsinghua University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Purdue University, Germany Hamburg University of Technology and other well-known universities at home and abroad, who master the key processes and equipment technologies for producing 1,3-propanediol (PDO) by microbial fermentation with independent intellectual property rights.

In March 2018, the 10,000-ton PDO production line was officially put into production. The products are used in different fields such as cosmetics, pharmaceutical intermediates, and polytrimethylene terephthalate polymerization. The quality of the products is highly recognized by domestic and foreign customers. It is estimated that within five years, the annual output will gradually reach 50,000-100,000 tons.
